I follow motorcycle news passionately. I have seen few motorcycle concepts with two-wheel drive systems. But a front wheel drive motorcycle is very rare. The Killer by Craig Rodsmith is one such motorcycle with front wheel drive system. A handmade three cylinder radial engine sits inside the front wheel and drive it. Sounds easy, but the entire system is custom-made by Craig.
After failing to find a ready radial engine, Craig decided to build one using three 60 cc two-stroke engines and a custom-made unified crankcase. The resulting radial engne sits inside the front wheel and sends power to the wheel using a centrifugal clutch driven by a lay shaft.
The electric start system starts all three engine simultaneously. A custom-made Bendix drive disengages the starter motor once the engines start running.
